The "Pocket Sculpture" series draws from a desire to create art that actively participates with people throughout their day. (Most paintings, murals and tapestries are positioned on a wall, and most sculptures are located in spot, where people go to experience them.)
Pocket Sculptures are sculptures that quite literally fit in a pocket, purse, backpack or briefcase, and spend the day with whoever has them. They can be taken out, set up, touched and held anywhere during the day, such as on a lunch or dinner table, at a coffee shop, on a desk, and beside a bed. Many Pocket Sculptures are created so that their precise organization changes each time they are set up.
In all those ways, they are always changing based on their interaction with people and environments, quite a bit like each piece in the Botanical Vase series changes whenever someone arranges new flowers in them or moves a vase to a new spot.
