The "Imaginary Botanicals" series of sculptures is ongoing. They explore the organic shapes, shadows, lighting and colors of a variety of actual and imagined plants. For instance, the Jack-o-lantern series comes from a long-standing fascination with jack-o-lanterns and the ancient history and fantastical stories around Halloween, with all the interplay amongst flickering shadows, candles and firelight and our imaginations that create tales that are passed on from generation to generation.
This series also relates to the "Imaginary Botanicals" paintings series.
The sculptures in this series are cast from originals made in wax or carved in wood. The wax or wood originals are not destroyed in the mold making process.
